Hamas to Trump: Recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital will lead to escalation in attacks

The Palestinian terrorist group Hamas sent a message on Saturday to US President Donald Trump, warning him that if he declares Jerusalem Israel’s capital, there will be immediate consequences in the holy city. In recent days, several reports have surfaced about Trumps’ plans to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital soon.

Amid the reports about US President Donald Trump’s plans to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital next week, the Hamas terrorist group sent a warning to the White House, which includes an explicit threat. According to the Hamas statement that was released on Saturday, if Trump indeed declares Jerusalem Israel’s capital, there will be immediate consequences on the ground.
In the statement, Hamas said that it is “warning Trump against recognizing Jerusalem as the State of Israel’s capital.” The Palestinian terrorist group said that its members want to clarify to Trump that Jerusalem is “a Muslim city and the capital of the Palestinian people.”
Hamas added that such a declaration by Trump would prompt the group to call for an escalation in “the Jerusalem Intifada,” the terror wave that began in September 2015.
Last night, JOL reported that Trump is expected to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital on Wednesday, according to reports by Reuters and Axios Media. The reports cite two Washington sources with knowledge of the matter.
However, a White House spokesman refused to confirm the report. “The President has always said it is a matter of when, not if,” he explained. “The President is still considering options and we have nothing to announce.”
