Rouhani says even ‘10 Donald Trumps’ cannot erase nuclear deal achievements

Amid the reports that US President Donald Trump will not certify the Iran nuclear deal next week, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani boasted that Iran has gained permanent benefits from the deal and it is impossible to “turn back the clock.”

In a speech at Tehran University on Saturday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani lashed out at US President Donald Trump amid the reports that the latter does not intend to certify the nuclear deal next week. “We gained permanent achievements from the deal,” said Rouhani. “No one can turn back the clock and erase our achievements,” he added, “neither Donald Trump nor 10 Donald Trumps.”

Rouhani’s rhetoric arrives a day after Trump announced that the public will “be hearing about Iran very shortly” during a meeting with senior US military officials. Trump also stated that Iran is not upholding the “spirit” of the agreement.

Trump has an October 15 deadline to either certify the nuclear deal or hand the decision over to Congress. As previously reported by JOL, there have been ongoing efforts by the US Democratic Party together with European envoys to try and influence Congress legislators to vote in favor of keeping the nuclear deal intact.
