Iranian officials announced Friday that Iran is open to talks about its ballistic missile arsenal, Reuters reported.
This report comes as Tehran is continuing to build up its arsenal, despite criticism from Washington accusing Iran of violating the 2015 nuclear accord with six world powers.
An Iranian source, who wished to remain anonymous, told Reuters that Iran had signaled to the world powers that it is willing to discuss its missile program in order to reduce Western concern.
A senior US administration official said Thursday that President Donald Trump is expected to announce soon that he will decertify the nuclear accord, which he has described as “the worst deal ever made.”
“The Iranian regime supports terrorism and exports violence, bloodshed and chaos across the Middle East,” Trump said Thursday during a meeting with military leaders at the White House. “That is why we must put an end to Iran’s continued aggression and nuclear ambitions. They have not lived up to the spirit of their agreement.”
